GCAA ends Yemen air cargo ban

UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) ended a two month-long ban in Dec-2010 with regards to accepting cargo shipments from Yemen (The National, 03-Jan-2011). UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), General Director, Saif al Suwaidi, stated check-in systems and airports across Yemen's airports are developed and "similar to those in any developed country" (Saba, 03-Jan-2011).The GCAA stated it has bolstered screening methods for cargo to and from Yemen, without disclosing further details. In addition, the GCAA and Yemen signed a MoU to add additional weekly services by UAE carriers to Sana'a capital as well as additional services to other Yemeni airports.
