London Gatwick Airport reports busiest ever August in 2016, exceeds Airports Commission forecast

London Gatwick Airport passenger numbers up 6% - traffic highlights for Aug-2016:

• Passenger numbers: 4.8 million, +5.7%;

  • Ireland: 145,800, +12.8%;
  • European scheduled: 3.3 million, +2.7%;
  • European charter: 286,000, -2.8%;
  • North Atlantic: 348,800, +51.3%;
  • Other long haul: 316,800, +4.7%;
• Cargo volume: 6396 tonnes, +12.7%;

The airport stated (12-Sep-2016) the result was its busiest ever August, and passed the 42 million annual passenger milestone, which the Airports Commission said it would be reach until 2030.
