fastjet outlines potential fleet expansion, may operate up to 34 aircraft by 2018

fastjet stated (29-Sep-2014) it may operate up to 13 aircraft in 2015, comprising seven in Tanzania, one in Kenya, three in Zambia and two in Zimbabwe. The airline said there is potential to add two aircraft in Kenya, three in South Africa and two in Uganda for a total of 20 in 2016. In 2017 the carrier may add one aircraft in Kenya, three in South Africa and one in Zimbabwe for a total of 25. In 2018 the airline may expand its fleet to up to 34 aircraft with an additional three in Kenya, three in South Africa, two in Uganda and one in Zimbabwe. The airline currently operates three A319 aircraft. fastjet CEO Ed Winter said the carrier is in discussions to acquire two A319s from ICBC Leasing to replace two aircraft to be returned to Volito Aviation Services (Bloomberg, 29-Sep-2014).
