Emirates denies speculation of plans to acquire stake in American Airlines

Emirates President, Tim Clark, responded to speculation that the carrier was planning a link-up with American Airlines parent, AMR Corp, by stating: "We certainly wouldn't be doing that,. Us buying a stake in AMR? It wouldn't make sense" (Bloomberg, 31-Aug-2010). He continued: "You've got to be careful of market speculation but it's flattering that people are talking about us."
