Embraer to expand international markets with a focus on Africa
Embraer plans to expand its international aviation markets with a focus on Africa, where it believes its aircraft prices and fuel efficiency are likely to have an edge over competitors (UPI, 31-Aug-2011). It has secured sales of 130 of the aircraft in 17 African countries, including Egypt, Nigeria, Libya (under Gadhafi) and most recently, Kenya. On 30-Aug-2011, Embraer and Kenya Airways ratified a contract for 10 E-190 aircraft and the option to purchase 16 at a later date.
