Embraer outlines E-Jet E2 cabin enhancements

Embraer announced (14-Jul-2014) the following details of the passenger cabin of its E-Jet E2. UK design firm Priestmangoode was contracted to jointly develop the aircraft cabin design with Embraer. Highlights include:

  • Modular interior: Embraer and Priestmangoode developed a modular construction approach, built around standard parts and structures, such as common overhead luggage bin parts for all classes, allowing for faster reconfiguration, fewer parts, and simplified maintenance. The cabin can be configured to include Economy, 'Economy +' and two options for First class;
  • Economy class: E-Jets E2s will maintain two seats on each side of the aisle, with an 18.3 inch seat-width;
  • First class: Embraer is evaluating a concept of staggered individual seats;
  • Lavatories: Modernised design includes acoustic curtains for passengers with reduced mobility privacy, integrated hand rails in the internal walls and use of high quality materials;
  • Overhead bins: Size increased by 40% over current generation E-Jets, allowing every passenger to take one typical airline carry-on bag on board. In addition, the bins will accommodate bags with IATA maximum recommended size (22 in x 18 in x 10 in, or 56 cm x 45 cm x 25 cm);
  • Passenger services: Introduction of new individual control panels for lights and air-conditioning. In-flight entertainment: E-Jets E2 cabin will have options for Wi-Fi internet connectivity and individual screens for in-flight entertainment, among other amenities;
  • Windows: Internal windows have been designed to appear larger. [more - original PR - Embraer] [more - original PR - Priestmangoode]
