Dragonair and industry as a hole 'is facing a difficult operating environment right now': CEO

Dragonair CEO Patrick Yeung, in Dragonews May/Jun-2012, stated "Dragonair - and, indeed, everyone in the aviation industry - is facing a difficult operating environment right now". He continued: "Uncertainties in the global economy, fluctuating fuel prices, and weak passenger yield and cargo demand are all creating immense challenges", adding, "It is vital that everyone in the [Cathay Pacific] Group, including Dragonair, runs a tight ship, is acutely cost conscious, and looks for ways to improve business and generate revenue." On a more positive note, Mr Yeung said, "despite the tough operating environment, there is still growth potential in Asia - and China, in particular - where the economy is more stable and demand is growing. The Group is thus focusing on continuing to increase the capacity of its regional network." [more - original PR]
