Deutsche Post DHL reports mixed profits in 1Q2013, forecasts EUR2.95bn EBIT in 2013

Deutsche Post DHL revenue up 1% - financial highlights for three months ended 31-Mar-2013:

  • Revenue: EUR13,444 million, +0.6% year-on-year;
    • Mail: EUR3612 million, +1.5%;
    • Express: EUR3037 million, +0.6%;
    • Global forwarding, freight: EUR3615 million, -1.9%;
    • Supply chain: EUR3483 million, +2.2%;
  • Operating profit: EUR711 million, +2.9%;
    • Mail: EUR382 million, -2.6%;
    • DHL: EUR427 million, +3.9%;
      • Express: EUR254 million, +9.5%;
      • Global forwarding, freight: EUR88 million, +1.1%;
      • Supply chain: EUR84 million, -8.7%;
  • Net profit: EUR498 million, -5.9%;
  • Total assets: EUR34,371 million, +1.5% when compared to period ended 31-Dec-2012;
  • Cash and cash equivalents: EUR2501 million, +4.2% when compared to period ended 31-Dec-2012;
  • Total liabilities: EUR24,883 million, +1.0% when compared to period ended 31-Dec-2012;
  • 2013 forecast:
    • EBIT: EUR2700 million to EUR2950 million;

Deutsche Post DHL: "Our strong position as market leader in the German mail and parcel business and in nearly all of our logistics activities is the best possible basis for our further growth. We continue to expect consolidated EBIT to reach between EUR2.7 billion and EUR2.95 billion in financial year 2013. Overall, world economic growth is likely to be similar to that of the previous year. A similar development is expected for world trade. The MAIL division is likely to contribute between EUR1.1 billion and EUR1.2 billion to consolidated EBIT. Compared with the previous year, we expect an additional improvement in overall earnings to between EUR2.0 billion and EUR2.15 billion in the DHL divisions." Source: Company statement, 14-May-2013.
