Deputy US Transportation Secretary excused from BA/AA antitrust application

US Department of Transportation confirmed Deputy Transportation Secretary, John Porcari, has been excused from examining the pending antitrust application led by British Airways and American Airlines, due to a conflict of interest brought about by his support for the application prior to his assumption of office (Dow Jones, 23-Sep-2009). He joins US Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood, who also left the review, due to similar concerns.
