Consolidation in US has changed domestic market dramatically: Hawaiian Airlines CEO

Hawaiian Airlines president and CEO Mark Dunkerley, at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, said (05-Aug-2015) consolidation among airlines has changed the US domestic market dramatically. Mr Dunkerley noted a substantial decline in US domestic capacity while load factors and revenues have increased to record highs. Mr Dunkerley said the scarcity of seats has helped drive up prices in the US and resulted in an "unprecedented" situation where major US airlines are turning away business to maintain a scarcity of capacity.
