China National Petroleum Corp delivers biofuel for Air China flight

China National Petroleum Corp has delivered 15 tons of jatropha oil as part of efforts by Air China to operate the country's maiden biofuel-powered test flight later in 2011 (Shanhgai Daily, 28-Jun-2011). Air China plans to operate a trans-Pacific demonstration flight partially powered by biofuel in the second half of this year. The carrier expects to use a B747 powered by Pratt & Whitney engines on the test flight, and CNPC is in charge of producing biofuel from jatropha for the project. No other details about the flight have been provided, including the cities between which the flight will operate.
