Chile DGAC confirms launch of Phase 1 of Santiago Airport renovation and expansion project

Chile's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) confirmed (25-Jun-2013) the beginning of Phase 1 of renovation and expansion works at Santiago International Airport. As previously reported by CAPA, the works involve an investment of USD60 million and will boost airport capacity to 16 million passengers p/a by 2015 through the renovation of 21,500sqm of space and construction of a new five-gate 7,700sqm remote international boarding area. Subsequent expansion includes the construction of a new terminal building which will triple airport capacity to 29 million passengers p/a by 2030, with the tender to be launched in 2H2013.
