CANSO warns of potential lack of airspace in Middle East

CANSO Director General Graham Lake announced the rapid growth of airlines in the Middle East region might lead to an "airspace crunch" (The Peninsula, 31 October 2010). According to a CANSO report, more than 400 aircraft will be delivered to Gulf-based airlines in the near future, which will strain the already-congested Middle Eastern airspace. Mr Graham stated that airlines, regulators and politicians must work together and with urgency to avoid a capacity crunch.
