Canadian Government to lower fees to reduce US/Canada fare price differences

Canada's Government announced (03-Oct-2012) plans to reduce fees which account for higher ticket prices compared to US fares. According to reports, fees and taxes for flight from Canada account for about 40% of a ticket price. Research associate Vijay Gill said, "Cross-border air-fare shopping is being driven by a perfect storm of factors that also includes differences in wages, aircraft prices, and industry productivity as well as US aviation policies."
