SkyTeam airlines will move to New Beijing Airport, Star Alliance to remain at Beijing Capital

CAAC announced (28-Jul-2016) China's State Council has approved the New Beijing Airport base airline proposal, which will be enacted according to airline alliances. Under the proposal, Air China and other Star Alliance member airlines will remain at the existing Beijing Capital Airport while China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and other SkyTeam Alliance airlines will move to the new Beijing Daxing International Airport. China Eastern and China Southern will also be able to construct their own infrastructure at the new airport and would account for 40% of the airport's total passenger capacity. Hebei Airlines, Beijing Capital Airlines and China Postal Airlines, as non-base airlines, will move into Beijing Daxing Airport and will use infrastructure constructed by Capital Airport Group. As previously reported, China Southern and Capital Airport signed an agreement in which the carrier will become the main operating airline from new Beijing Daxing International Airport. Under the agreement, China Southern will base 100 aircraft at Beijing Daxing Airport in 2019, when the airport is scheduled to complete construction and commence operations. The carrier's fleet at the airport will increase to 150 aircraft by 2025. [more - original PR - Chinese]
