Boeing wins orders and commitments for 201 commercial aircraft at Farnborough 2014

Boeing reported (17-Jul-2014) it secured orders and commitments for 201 commercial aircraft, valued at more than USD40.2 billion at list prices. The orders announced at the airshow bring the number of Boeing's net orders for 2014 to 783. Orders and commitments comprise:

  • Monarch Airlines: Commitment for 30 737 MAX 8 aircraft, valued at USD3.1 billion;
  • Okay Airlines: Firm order for six 737 MAX 8 aircraft and four 737-800 aircraft, valued at USD980 million;
  • Avolon: Commitment for six 787-9s and 737 MAX 9 aircraft, valued at USD2 billion;
  • Air Lease Corp: Order for six 777-300ERs and 20 737 MAX, valued at USD3.9 billion;
  • Intrepid Aviation: Order for six 777-300ERs, valued at USD1.9 billion;
  • CIT Aerospace: Order for 10 787-9, valued at USD2.5 billion;
  • Air Algerie: Order for two 737-700C aircraft, valued at USD152 million;
  • Qatar Airways: Order for 50 777-9X aircraft and commitment for four 777Fs, valued at USD20.1 billion;
  • MG Aviation: Order for two 787-9s, valued at USD499 million;
  • Hainan Airlines: Commitment for 50 737 MAX 8 aircraft, valued at USD5.1 billion.

Boeing also made the following commercial aircraft announcements at the airshow:

  • New 200-seat 737 MAX 8 option that will give airlines up to 11 more seats. Boeing estimates the aircraft will deliver a 20% per seat fuel-consumption saving compared to the 737NG;
  • Provided new details about the interior of the 777X. The new model will apply 787 cabin innovations, including higher cabin humidity, windows more than 15% larger and a cabin that is 16 inches wider than the competition, allowing airlines a variety of economy class seat widths.
