Boeing: Narrowbodies to account for 85% of large aircraft demand in India over next 20 years

Boeing forecast (19-Jul-2016) demand for 1850 new aircraft for India, valued at USD265 billion, over the next 20 years. Boeing noted traffic growth in India remains the highest in the world at 8.6%, with domestic passenger traffic increasing 21% from 2015. LCCs account for more than 60% of all flights. Details of the aircraft delivery forecast for 2016 to 2035 include:

  • Regional jets (under 90 seats): 10, valued at USD1 billion;
  • Narrowbodies (90-230 seats): 1560, valued at USD1560 billion;
  • Widebody: (more than 200 seats): 280, valued at USD85 billion;
  • Total: 1850, 4.6% of global aircraft demand and 4.5% of demand by dollar value. [more - original PR]
