Australia's domestic pax numbers up 9% in Oct-2012, load factor down 4 ppts

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (19-Dec-2012) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Oct-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 5.2 million, +8.6% year-on-year;
  • Top 10 domestic city pairs:

    • Brisbane-Sydney: 399,822, +6.8%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 290,587, +1.3%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 233,474, +22.3%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 198,663, +27.8%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 177,835, -0.8%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 170,853, +11.4%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 163,817, +9.5%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 155,028, +4.9%;
    • Brisbane-Cairns: 108,595, +12.5%;
  • Load factor: 79.4%, -3.6 ppts;
