Australia's domestic pax numbers up 7% in Nov-2012, load factor down

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (22-Jan-2013) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Nov-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 5.0 million, +7.1% year-on-year;
  • Top ten domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 734,270, +10.6%;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 383,703, +3.0%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 283,939, +6.1%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 224,237, +20.6%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 191,382, +23.2%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 184,433, +9.5%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 158,783, +9.0%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 153,433, +5.5%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 151,188, -1.2%;
    • Hobart-Melbourne: 122,394, +31.9%;
  • Load factor: 79.6%, -1.7 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 83.5%, -0.1 ppt;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 80.2%, -5.5 ppts;
