Australia's domestic pax numbers up 4% in Jul-2012, load factor down 4 ppts

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (12-Oct-2012) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Jul-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.9 million, +3.7% year-on-year;
  • Top ten domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 690,121, +6.4%;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 377,567, -3.8%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 279,197, +3.5%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 201,318, +7.3%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 190,629, +20.9%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 177,596, -3.3%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 158,061, +11.3%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 155,018, +2.6%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 147,454, +0.7%;
    • Brisbane-Cairns: 113,642, +7.3%;
  • Load factor: 77.9%, -3.5 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 75.3%, -11.4 ppts;
