Australia's domestic pax numbers up 4% in Apr-2013, load factor down

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (24-Jun-2013) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Apr-2013:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.8 million, +4.1% year-on-year;
  • Top ten domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 670,431, +3.9%;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 359,688, +1.2%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 249,551, -5.4%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 213,389, +9.8%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 189,625, +11.1%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 186,599, +6.5%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 156,896, +6.0%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 153,944, +1.7%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 138,709, -3.3%;
    • Hobart-Melbourne: 116,500, +17.3%;
  • Load factor: 76%, -1.6 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 80.9%, +3.4 ppts;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 77.6%, -2.6 ppts;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 76.5%, -2.7 ppts;
