Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (19-Dec-2011) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Oct-2011:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.7 million, -3.5% year-on-year;
  • Top 10 domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 657,964, -5.7%;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 374,484, -7.1%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 286,730, +0.7%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 190,847, -6.0%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 179,183, -12.4%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 155,471, -0.8%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 153,402, -4.7%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 149,640, -2.2%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 147,850, -9.9%;
    • Brisbane-Cairns: 96,498, -7.7%;
  • Load factor: 83%, +1.1 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 85.8%, +0.8 ppt;
