Australian domestic pax numbers stable in Apr-2012, load factor down

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported (02-Jul-2012) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic passenger airlines in Apr-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.6 million, stable year-on-year;
  • Top ten domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 645,500, -3.3%;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 355,400, -5.6%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 263,900, -1.8%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 194,400, +4.4%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 175,200, -14.2%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 170,600, +5.2%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 151,300, +5.0%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 148,000, -3.5%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 143,500, +3.9%;
    • Hobart-Melbourne: 99,300, -0.4%;
  • Load factor: 77.5%, -1.4 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 77.5%, -5.9 ppts;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 80.2%, -1.3 ppts;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 79.2%, -2.6 ppts;
