Athens International Airport expects to see 14.1 million pax in challenging 2012

Greece's Athens International Airport stated (28-Feb-2012) it expects 2012 to be "particularly critical and challenging" considering the development of the Greek macroeconomic crisis, and anticipates an annual throughput of 14.1 million passengers and operating revenue of EUR316 million for the year. The airport expects to see a further reduction in traffic due to reduced demand from Greek travellers and a damaged reputation in terms of tourism. In an effort to mitigate these effects, the airport will improve its airline incentives programme and make costs reductions.
