ANA will not wage price war with LCCs: President

All Nippon Airways (ANA) President Shinichiro Ito stated the carrier has no intention of waging a price battle with LCCs commenting: "We will compete with our network of connecting flights, not by engaging in price competition" (The Nikkei, 21-Oct-2010). ANA and JAL are expected to face increasing competition from LCCs as the North Asian market liberalises and capacity is added to Tokyo area airports. He added that ANA will increase codeshare services with other Star Alliance members from 31-Oct-2010, with the carrier to operate 44 international services on 11 routes - an increase from 24 flights on nine routes.
