Alitalia operating loss widens in 1H2013, EUR128m in cash

Alitalia reported (26-Sep-2013) the following financial highlights for 1H2013:

  • Revenue: EUR1621 million, -4% year-on-year;
    • Passenger: EUR+0.2%;
      • Domestic: -10.1%;
      • International: +3.7%;
      • Intercontinental: +9.1%;
  • Operating profit (loss): (EUR198 million), compared to a loss of EUR169 million;
  • Net profit (loss): (EUR294 million), compared to a loss of EUR201 million in p-c-p;
  • Passenger numbers: 10.7 million, -4%;
  • Load factor: 73%, +2 ppts;
  • Domestic market share: 49.5%, +1.2 ppt;

At the end of 1H2013, the carrier had EUR128 million in total cash and cash equivalents, including unused credit lines.
