Airports Corporation of Vietnam records 'stable' traffic growth during first nine months of 2014

Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) reported (22-Oct-2014) passenger traffic increased by approximately 14.5% year-on-year to 38 million in the first nine months to Sep-2014, achieving 79.8% of its total full-year traffic target. International traffic increased by 4.8% to 11.8 million passengers, while domestic traffic increased by 19.6% to 26 million during the nine-month period. ACV recorded year-on-year growth in cargo volumes of 11.4% to 617,460 tonnes, reaching 76.3% of FY2014 targets. Aircraft traffic also increased by 13.4% to 278,246 movements, achieving 80.6% of ACV's total year target. Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City Airport reported traffic growth of approximately 9.7% to 16.5 million passengers during the three quarters. Cargo traffic also increased year-on-year by approximately 7.7% to 298,000 tonnes. The country's Hanoi Noi Bai Airport recorded a year-on-year increase in total traffic of 10% to 10.6 million passengers, and achieved cargo traffic growth of 11.7% to 283,000 tonnes during the same nine-month period. Airports Corporation of Vietnam commented on the performance as "stable" growth, pledging to improve the quality of security and safety at the Vietnamese airports under its purview.
