Airport traffic in Japan decreases for third consecutive year

Japan's MLIT announced the country's 92 main airports handled 228 million passengers in FY2009, a 5.7% year-on-year decrease and the third consecutive annual decrease (Nikkan Koku, 06-Dec-2010). Domestic passenger numbers fell 6.8% to 178 million and international passengers fell 1.7% to 49.7 million.
