Airone Ventures to launch LCC services within the Caribbean and to the US

Airone Ventures, a Barbados start-up, plans to launch LCC services within the Caribbean and between Barbados and the US in Feb-2011 (Travel Weekly, 03-Jun-2010). Its initial schedule is to include daily Barbados-Fort Lauderdale service with an MD-82 aircraft leased from Allegiant Air. Allegiant has a 10% stake in the start-up. Airone was previously denied plans to launch services from Kingston and Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale and New York on Jan-2008, as the Jamaican Government did not want to grant any new airline licences until Air Jamaica was sold. Airone relocated to Barbados as a result.
