Air India to more than halve B787 order: report

Air India will reduce its B787 orders by more than half, according to an Economic Times report, without citing sources. Air India's board has reportedly recommended the acquisition of only 12 B787s, compared to the 2005 order of 27 aircraft. The board has reportedly proposed the aircraft be delivered in phases over three years, with the first delivery in Dec-2011.

A group of ministers led by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet today (27-Oct-2011) to decide on a turnaround plan for carrier. India's Civil Aviation Minister previously said the airline does not have the funds to acquire the 27 B787s.
