Air Berlin pushes back single-aisle aircraft deliveries

Air Berlin plc has (25-Oct-2011) postponed the delivery of 19 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft valued at USD1.6 billion as part of plans to lower capacity growth and decrease debt. According to wire reports, the delivery of eight B737s and 11 A320s, originally scheduled for 2012 and 2013, has been pushed back to 2015 and 2016. Air Berlin will still take delivery of 31 new single-aisle aircraft in 2012 and 2013. The airline's investment requirements have been reduced by USD508 million in 2012 and USD1.13 billion in 2013 following the postponement. [more - original PR]
