Air Berlin operating loss widens in 1Q2013, maintains breakeven guidance for 2013

Air Berlin PLC reported (14-May-2013) the following preliminary financial highlights for three months ended 31-Mar-2013:

  • Revenue: EUR791.9 million, -2.6% year-on-year;
  • Operating profit (loss): (EUR188.4 million), compared to a loss of EUR149.3 million in p-c-p;
  • Net profit (loss): (EUR196.3 million), compared to a loss of EUR163.6 million in p-c-p;
  • Passenger load factor: 85.6%, +3.3 ppts;
  • Yield: EUR116.20, +6%;
  • Revenue per ASK: EUR 7.10 cents, +9%;
  • Total assets: EUR2473 million;

airberlin confirmed the earnings target for 2013 and still expects to achieve a break-even result on an EBIT basis for the current year.
