ACI EUROPE reports 5% rise in Aug-2011 pax traffic

ACI EUROPE reported (06-Oct-2011) the following traffic highlights in Aug-2011:

  • Passenger traffic: +4.7% year-on-year;
  • Cargo volume: -2.5%;
  • Aircraft movements: +2.7%. [more]

Strongly growing airports include Ohrid (+93.5%), Venice (+43.1%), Tallinn (+39.5%) and Skellefteå (+36.2%).

ACI EUROPE: "Declining freight traffic is symptomatic of the risk of another recession for Europe, amid weak business and consumer confidence. This bodes badly for passenger traffic in the months ahead, with many airlines having revised their initial capacity plans downwards for the winter," Olivier Jankovec, director general.
