ACI EUROPE reports 3% increase in Jan-2012 pax traffic, cargo down 8%

ACI EUROPE reported (02-Mar-2012) the following Jan-2012 traffic highlights:

  • Passenger traffic: +3.2% year-on-year;
  • Cargo traffic: -7.5%;
  • Aircraft movements: -2.1%. [more - original PR]

ACI EUROPE: "January figures point to worrying prospects for the months ahead. The apparent resilience in passenger traffic conceals a rather contrasted picture, with non-EU airports growing by 12.2% but EU growth at just 1.4%. Freight traffic clearly reflects continued weaknesses in the European economy while aircraft movements are set to further decline - in the wake of Spanair and Malev's demise, to say nothing of renewed oil price pressure."
