A350-900 receives EASA Type Certification

European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) awarded (30-Sep-2014) Type Certification to Airbus for the A350-900. The certified aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Airbus expects FAA certification will follow shortly. Airbus is aiming for a "fully mature" aircraft at entry into service with delivery to first A350 XWB customer, Qatar Airways, before the end of 2015. The fleet of fleet of five test aircraft completed the certification campaign "on time, cost and quality", operating more than 2600 flight test hours. [more - original PR]
