03-Jul-2013 Tiger Airways is today celebrating a new milestone in its history, flying the first of its rebranded aircraft into Alice Springs Airport (ASA) and arriving as Tigerair. The new livery was unveiled in Melbourne this morning, with Tigerair choosing the Red Centre as its first destination.

ASA General Manager Katie Cooper will welcome the new-look A320 when it touches down in Alice Springs later this morning.

"In the few short months since Tigerair returned to Alice Springs we've seen the benefits that extra services can bring to our community and local tourism industry," said Ms Cooper.

"We couldn't think of a better inaugural destination than Central Australia, and we're excited to be involved in Tigerair's first steps towards further growth and improved customer focus.

"We'll continue to work with Tigerair to build on its recent successes in the region as the new brand rolls out across all areas of the business."

On board today's flight will be Tigerair Australia Commercial Director Carly Brear.

"We recently launched services to the region in a bid to provide much needed great value flights to Alice," said Ms Brear.

"The people of Alice Springs have been extremely supportive of Tiger to date and have certainly embraced our arrival after we listened to their cries for Tigerair to offer flights. Our decision that Tigerair's inaugural journey would be to the Red Centre is a small way in which to show our commitment to the region and to say thank you for choosing us."
