16-Dec-2012 Tiger Airways has taken delivery of a fourth aircraft to be based in Sydney, on the eve of its new Mackay route commencing tomorrow.

"The resurgence of Tiger Airways has been a boon to travellers, providing more choice and competition on popular leisure routes," Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather said.

"The decision to base a fourth aircraft at Sydney Airport is testament to the strong leisure market in Sydney and the appeal of Sydney and NSW for domestic tourism.

"Tiger's Sydney base has been going from strength to strength with the airline announcing it would be commencing its first regional route to Coffs Harbour in February.

"Tiger will be flying five routes to/from Sydney from next year, which shows there is strong demand for low cost fares to great domestic destinations.

"We worked in partnership with Destination NSW in attracting Tiger to set up a base in Sydney and the fact that it is adding aircraft and routes demonstrates the success of this strategic partnership in growing tourism to Sydney and NSW."
