Avianca Holdings Reports August 2013 Traffic Statistics For Its Airlines

01-Oct-2013 In the first eight months of the year, Avianca Holdings S.A. through its operating subsidiaries recorded an 8.3% increase in passengers carried, compared to the same period in 2012.

In August 2013, the airlines affiliated with the Holding transported 2.2 million passengers.

Between January and August, Avianca Holdings S.A. (BVC: PFAVH) (*) affiliated airlines carried 16,351,623 passengers, an 8.3% increase over the same period in 2012. Capacity, measured in ASKs (available seat kilometers), increased 7.0% while passenger traffic, measured in RPKs (passenger revenue per kilometer flown), increased 8.4%, as a result the load factor for the month increased to 80.4%.

In August, the subsidiary companies of Avianca Holdings transported 2,208,982 passengers, up 4.4% compared to August 2012. Capacity, measured in ASKs (available seat kilometers), increased 7.1% while passenger traffic, measured in RPKs (passenger revenue per kilometer flown), increased 7.4%. The load factor for the month was 82.0%.

Domestic markets in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador
From January through August 2013, the number of passengers carried by the affiliated companies of Avianca Holdings within the domestic markets of Colombia, Peru and Ecuador was 9,463,987 up 9.7% compared to 2012. Capacity (ASK) in these markets increased 16.4%, while passenger traffic (RPK) increased 11.7%, as a result the load factor was 76.9%.

In August, the subsidiary airlines of Avianca Holdings transported within these markets a total of 1,255,426 travelers, up 3.0% compared to August 2012. Capacity (ASK) increased 12.0%, while passenger traffic (RPK) increased 4.1%, as a result the load factor was 77.5%.

International markets
From January through August 2013, the number of passengers carried on international routes was 6,887,636, up 6.5% compared to 2012. Capacity (ASK) grew 4.7% while passenger traffic (RPK) increased 7.6%, as a result the load factor increased to 81.4%.

In August, the affiliated airlines of Avianca Holdings transported 953,556 passengers on international routes, up 6.2% compared to 2012. Capacity (ASK) increased 5.9% while passenger traffic (RPK) grew 8.3%, as a result the load factor climbed to 83.1%.
