Alitalia announces appointments of new Director of Purchasing and Services and Chief Commercial Offi

Andrea Leistner, Director of Purchasing and Services;

Massimo Marsili, Chief Commercial Officer with effect from 1st October.

Andrea Leistner, obtained her degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technische Hochschule Leuna Merseburg in Germany. Ms. Leistner, joining us from Costa Cruises where she held the position of Vice President Purchasing and Supply Chain since October 2011. She has also gained her vast professional experience during her time at Heinz, a multi-national American leader in the Food & Beverages sector; and in 3M, a multi-national American leader in Industrial, Health Care, Consumer & Office.

Massimo Marsili, attained his degree in Economics (and Commerce) from the University of La Sapienza in Rome with further specialisation in Strategic Marketing and Organisation at Stanford University and Harvard Business School in the USA. Mr. Marsili has had a long professional experience within the Avis group, world leader in the car rental sector, which he joined in 2003 covering various positions of responsibility within the areas of Finance, Avis fleet in Italy, Budget and Commerce for Italy, until he was nominated CEO and President of Avis Southern Region (Italy, France, Portugal). His also gained previous important professional experience working with General Electric Group and General Motors Group.

During the course of the Board meeting, it was also announced that Banca Leonardo was appointed as Advisor to assist the company in dealing with banking system relations as outlined in the 2013/2016 industrial plan. The Board Members were also informed that, in the next Board meeting, which will be held towards the end of September, the results of the preliminary contacts with the banks will be presented to them together with the 2013 half year results for their approval.
