US shares dip ahead of earnings season

Analysis

Investors are preparing themselves for a flurry of earnings reports this week, with every major US carrier reporting, except for Southwest Airlines.

Shares were down across the board on Friday, with the exception of Republic Airways (+4.2%). AirTran led the falls of the US carriers, dipping 3.5%, while American Airlines fell 3.4% and Continental 3.1%.
