Tiger Airways may shift some Melbourne services to Avalon - report

Analysis

Tiger Airways' Australian operation is again reported to be close to announcing a shift of at least part of its Melbourne operations from Tullamarine to Avalon Airport.

According to a report in The Age newspaper, up to seven daily domestic services to leisure destinations (possibly Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Perth) could be shifted to Avalon, which is currently used by Jetstar. An announcement of the move is reportedly likely next week. Tiger Airways' shares rose 2.2% in Singapore trade yesterday.

Elsewhere, SpiceJet's shares eased 1.6% and AirAsia was flat.
