Thai Airways and China Eastern sign codeshare agreement

BANGKOK (Thai Airways) - Thai Airways International and China Eastern Airlines began reciprocal code-share flights, effective 30 October 2005 onwards. As part of the code-share agreement, China Eastern Airlines will code-share on THAI's services on the routes:

- Bangkok to Shanghai (Pudong - PVG)
- Shanghai (Pudong - PVG) to Bangkok

"The code-share agreement between THAI and China Eastern Airlines signifies the beginning of code-share opportunities whereby the company will be able to expand its network into various areas throughout China, supporting travel and tourism between the two countries. Code-share flights between THAI and China Eastern Airlines will succeed in offering our respective passengers greater travel choices through a more extensive network," said Mr. Vasing Kittikul, Thai Airways International's Executive Vice President for Commercial.

Thai Airways International will code-share on China Eastern Airlines' services between:

- Bangkok to Shanghai (Pudong - PVG)
- Shanghai (Pudong - PVG) to Bangkok

"This is a reciprocally "win-win" cooperation. Through the project, Thai Airways International will have more access to enter the Chinese market while China Eastern Airlines could take the advantage of the huge network of Thai Airways International over the Southeast Asia as well. To the passengers' benefit, there will be more varieties and more diversified services. I am confident that this joint venture is only an initial phase. As time goes by, together we shall provide more products, offer better convenience to our dear passengers traveling between Southeast Asia and China." said Mr. Jianzhong Zhang, China Eastern Airlines.

Currently, Thai Airways International serves over 73 destinations worldwide in 34 countries, spanning four continents, including Europe, Russia, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent, Australasia, and the United States.

China Eastern Airlines now serves 67 international, regional itineraries and 274 domestic routes.

The new code-share services between Thai Airways International and China Eastern Airlines on the route Bangkok to Shanghai v.v. took effect on 30 October 2005 onwards.
