Skymark announces services to Kobe and Sapporo to replace various unprofitable routes
SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - Skymark Airlines, a Japanese LCC, confirmed plans to launch Tokyo Haneda-Sapporo/Kobe services in 2006.
The carrier announced in Oct-05 plans to withdraw from unprofitable routes to Kansai, Kagoshima and Tokushima. The carrier also plans to expand internationally in 2009 following the completion of the fourth runway at Tokyo Haneda Airport.
"There are limited routes on which we can achieve low cost services within Japan. If we extend the range outside the country, Taiwan and Shanghai are among the routes on which we may be able to offer low fares," Shinichi Nishikubo, President, Skymark Airlines.
