Melbourne Airport's 'low cost' future

Premium Analysis

Melbourne International Airport’s (MEL) outlook continues

to strengthen after a difficult few years, due to international service cutbacks

by some key airlines. MEL is preparing for Tiger Airways’ launch into

the Australian domestic market from late Nov-07 with routes already announced

to Darwin, Perth, Alice Springs, Gold Coast, Rockhampton and Mackay. There is

also still much speculation over Tiger’s plans to serve Sydney, Brisbane

and other major markets from MEL.
