Malaysia Airlines unleashes deep discounts, AirAsia unleashes big China plans - share wrap

Analysis

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) shares dropped 6.3% on 03-Feb-08, as the carrier unveiled some very low promotional prices for travel to the UK and Europe, aggravating investor concerns over forward bookings and yields.

AirAsia's plans to launch services to six new destinations in China and Taiwan didn't help sentiment for MAS either. AirAsia investors liked the plan, sending the carrier's shares up 2.3%.

Elsewhere, China Airlines and EVA Air had a strong day, both rising 6.9%.

Asia Pacific selected airlines daily share price movements (% change): 03-Feb-09
