GOL surges on Brazilian air traffic recovery, Southwest gains on positive 2Q2010 outlook

ANAC reported the following traffic highlights in May-2010 (NB: This data is presented each month in CAPA's America Airline Daily report):

    • WebJet: +88.3%;
    • Azul: +71.3%;
    • Avianca: +32.2%;
    • Trip: +130.0%;
    • Passaredo: +141.9%;
    • Pantanal: +25.3%;
    • Puma Air: +58,781%;
    • Total: -2.4%;
    • Air Minas: +6.2%;
    • NHT: -24.4%;

    • Team: -25.6%;
    • SOL**:
    • Abaete: +7.8%;
  • International: +21.0%;
    • TAM: +22.5%;

In the domestic market, TAM held a 40.9% share in May-2010, while GOL had a 40.2% share, according to ANAC. Webjet had a 6.3% share, Azul Linhas 5.9% and OceanAir 3.2%.

Southwest gains altitude

Elsewhere, Southwest gained 2.6% on fairly bullish comments by Chief Financial Officer Laura Wright, speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Transportation conference in New York yesterday.
