Emirates: “modest” profit forecast for FY08/09

Despite all the challenges facing airlines in 2009 and estimated industry-wide losses of USD4.7 billion for the year, Emirates continues to buck the trends seen in the rest of the world. The Executive Vice-Chairman and President of Emirates Group, Maurice Flanagan, has forecast a "modest" profit for the 12 months to 31-Mar-09, an "amazing achievement given the current economic conditions."
