Dubai Airports launches final phase of airport expansion

Premium Analysis

The final phase of expansion at Dubai International Airport (DIA) officially commenced in early Dec-08, with the awarding of a USD1.3 billion contract to the Al Habtoor (40%), Murray & Roberts (40%) Takenaka (20%) consortium (HMRT) for the construction and development of Concourse 3 at the airport. The contract is very important for the Al Habtoor Leighton Group, a JV between Australia's Leighton International and the UAE's Al Habtoor Engineering, after several major development projects it was involved in were halted due to the global financial crisis.
