Dows 11pct rise highlights different treatment for airlines, as they mostly lagged increases

The buying frenzy that ended Wall Street trading yesterday, resulting in a 10.9% increase in the Dow Jones index, has not been imitated in Asia today, with most markets moving up a more modest 3-4%. The big exception was Japan, with a 9% rise by mid-afternoon, as a rate drop of 25 basis points was expected and as the USD rose some 5% against the yen.
