Continental, Delta American Airlines and United Airlines stocks rise

Analysis

US airline shares enjoyed a solid day yesterday, ahead of the Jun-2009 traffic reporting season. United Airlines advanced 3.1%, while American and Delta rose 3% and 1%, respectively.

Investor enthusiasm may be dented however as Continental kicked off the traffic reports with confirmation yields remain heavily depressed, despite strong load factors.

Elsewhere, Gol advanced 1.8% as Banco Santander SA stated the airline's profit growth may accelerate in 2H2009 and recommended GOL's shares over larger rival TAM. Investors appear to disagree, sending TAM's shares up 3.9% yesterday.

North & South America selected airlines daily share price movements (% change): 01-Jul-09
